Carniceria in Spanish means “Butcher Shop”, but don’t let that fool you, it has much more to offer. Carniceria Loa #7 has a butcher shop, a grocery market, and a restaurant with a plethora of amazing options in all corners of the store. Being a college student, you can assume that I love cheap eats. Carniceria loa is incredibly inexpensive but is nothing short of amazing. The best part of the inexpensive super market is that it is super close to UTC. UTC students can take the bus to or drive to Carniceria Loa in under 8 minutes. Not only is the restaurant inexpensive, but so is the grocery market. Tacos are $1:50 you can also get rice and beans, limes are 5 for $1. Also for the tacos, they have carne asada (grilled steak), chorizo (a fresh Mexican sausage), pollo (chicken), or lengua (beef tongue). Once you get your food there will be a condiment bar with sauces, salsas, including cactus (salsa nopalitos) and a guacamole.
They have the best value in town for produce, and all types of goods. If you have ever tried to make good Hispanic food at home but just can’t seem to get it right (I know ive been there), say no more because they have all you need to whip up the best meal at home. Here you can get the right products to make the best tortillas at home, fresh peppers, Hispanic sodas, the choices are endless. They have beef, chicken, and some seafood, usually tilapia and shrimp, and they will even order a whole pig for you. With whatever you decide, you can be assured it will be high quality and inexpensive. Carniceria Loa may be you next go to grocery store and lunch spot.
